This is part one of an 8 part course based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and the Mindful Way Workbook. This will consist of meditation and learning new tools to create a more positive outlook. This is not psychotherapy, but it is a foundational path to create change for yourself. Mindfulness has been shown to greatly impact anxiety, depression, stress, and can foster a sense of connection and meaning. Coming together in a group to learn can foster a sense of community and connection. This event be hosted by Within Holistic Counseling which is a meditation based psychotherapy practice.
This course will be led Elle Hupp who is a counselor at Within Holistic Counseling. Elle has a MS in Psychology from Georgia College and State University. She graduated from NOVA Southeastern University with a MS in Mental Health Counseling. She has 2 years of doctoral coursework, researching how attachment and trauma influence hoarding disorder. Her experience includes working at a psychiatric hospital, where she facilitated groups and provided individual therapy to adults with a criminal history and comorbid disorders. Her therapeutic interests include eating disorders, families of people who hoard, trauma, anxiety and depression.
She has been a pianist for 25 years and truly enjoys playing music. She believes music can impact the mind, body, and soul and thus, have a tremendous impact on therapeutic change.
