"The decline of masculinity"

Details
Modern society is far removed from our evolutionary roots. With the increase of wealth and individualism, the role of men and women in society no longer need to follow any predetermined rules or stereotypes.
On the other hand, it has become commonplace to criticize various aspects of modern life and how we humans, due to our tribal roots, are not equipped to deal with things like: highly optimized algorithms to capture our attention, the amplification of extreme opinions and formation of social bubbles, the pressure and pace of modern labor and progress, and the replacement of human contact with technology or parasocial relationships.
Living closer to how nature intended is a common theme of "leftist" arguments, while the importance of traditional values and gender roles is a common "right wing" talking point. There seems to be an overlap here - so how is it possible that these are considered completely opposing views?
In this event we will specifically focus on the role of masculinity in society in the past, present and future - both our perceptions as well as our wishes.
The three main questions for "the decline of masculinity" we want to discuss are:
(a) What are reasonable definitions of "masculinity" and "decline"?
(b) Have we observed this effect ourselves or are there objective measures that could be used to back it up?
(b) If such a decline exists, is it a good thing or a bad thing?
