There’s nothing like being out on the water enjoying nature! This has always been one of our all-time favorite and most popular events, and we’re bringing it back again for the season.

Join us for a relaxing Sunday morning paddle at Monksville Reservoir, a beautiful and serene reservoir located in the New Jersey Highlands at Long Pond Ironworks State Park. The reservoir spans about three miles end-to-end and covers over 500 acres, surrounded by forest and scenic hiking trails. The reservoir feels secluded, rustic, and incredibly peaceful.

Keep an eye out for wildlife along the shoreline — herons, egrets, turtles, swans, and other nature critters are often spotted while we paddle.

Suggested Meetup Time:
9:30 AM
This allows time for parking, rental check-in, and getting your kayak in the water.

Departure Time:
10:00 AM sharp
We meet in the water in front of the Flatwater Paddle Co. rental dock and depart promptly. We cannot wait for late arrivals since rental equipment is reserved by the hour.

From the launch area we’ll paddle together across the reservoir to a small hidden island known as Picnic Island. Once there, we’ll pull our kayaks onto shore, explore the island, relax, and enjoy drinks, snacks, or lunch together.

Members should pack drinks, snacks, or a light lunch. On warm days, some members may even take a quick swim in a quiet, hidden spot near the island.

Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available through Flatwater Paddle Co.

Most people choose the 2-hour rental, as the 1-hour rental tends to go by very quickly once you’re out on the water. The 4-hour rental is perfect if you want extra time to explore the reservoir.
Our Meet-Up tour will require 2 hours minimum.
