About the Session:
Peter's latest open-source initiative is a framework for web-service API acceptance testing called 'Karate'. Since it is based on Cucumber, it combines BDD syntax with an elegant, minimalist DSL carefully crafted to deal with HTTP, JSON and XML.

Karate's adoption by the community has been remarkable, as evident from the rising tide of Stack Overflow questions and the 350+ stars the project currently has on GitHub. Karate was featured as one of the top 5 open-source API testing tools in a blog post on TechBeacon, within just six months of its release.

In this session, Peter will walk through the features and capabilities of Karate and live-demo examples of real-world tests. You get to hear straight from the creator the motivations for creating Karate in the first place, how it differs from the competition, and how it can enable you to build and deliver web-services with higher quality, and faster than before.

Peter Thomas is a full-stack web-services Architect at Intuit with extensive experience in building and scaling customer-backed solutions. An avid open-source enthusiast, Peter's first open-source project 'CB2XML' was created on SourceForge in 2004 and incredibly still sees active releases by the current maintainers.
