Details

VENUE INFORMATION:

We have a temporary venue this month:

Room A46 in the historic Trent Building at the University of Nottingham. This is in the Highfield's Park campus, opposite Nottingham Science Park on University Boulevard. More details about this venue are here:

http://www.nottinghamconferences.co.uk/trentbuilding/

Directions to campus here:

http://nottingham.ac.uk/About/Visitorinformation/Mapsanddirections/UniversityParkCampus.aspx

From the West entrance (nearest to Beeston) head into campus then take a right at the mini roundabout a 100metre or so up. There should be signs for 'Trent Building' - head in that direction. Similarly, follow the signs for either the Trent Building or Portland Building (nearby) if you come in a different entrance. There are maps in the links above.

There's ample free parking either side of the building if you enter through either the West or South entrance (though you cannot now turn right into the South entrance on University Boulevard due to the tram).

The building is a ten minute walk from the University of Nottingham Tram stop - just head up the hill past the Lakeside Centre and turn left on the far side of the lake.

Someone will be loitering behind the clock tower area to point you in the right direction.

Phil Sherry (@nonswearyphil (https://twitter.com/nonswearyphil)) will be talking about:

Adventures in Accessibility Testing

Far too many people still see accessibility as something to bolt on at the end of a project. Some see it as an expendable expense that can be dropped if the budget’s tight. Neither of these things are true, of course.
Phil Sherry will show you how to make your work more accessible, and how to test it in screen readers on various platforms.

About Phil:

Phil’s been building things for the Web for twenty years, which makes him really old. In that time, he’s had some web development books published, built social networks in Stockholm, built Jimmy Corkhill’s website, worked at Hollyoaks and Grange Hill, Apple, and British Airways. He’s currently working for Accenture on GOV.UK things at HMRC.
