Azure User Group: Strengthening your Infra. as Code (IaC) using Bicep

Details

Please join us for the May Minnesota Azure User Group meeting.

This month's topic is: Strengthening your Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, co-presented by Mark Garner and Marcus Felling.

Automation of infrastructure is one of the cornerstones of a mature cloud practice. But ARM templates have been somewhat difficult to author. Now with Bicep, a Domain Specific Language (DSL) for authoring infrastructure in Azure, you'll be able to write your infrastructure code faster than ever. We'll discuss the Bicep template language, how to get your development environment bootstrapped, some strategies for automation, and where the Bicep product is heading.

Speakers: Mark Garner, a Cloud Solution Architect, has been at Microsoft for almost 10 years, working with SQL Server & Power BI, modern data architectures, and now application infrastructure in Azure. When not at work, you can find Mark on a run around the neighborhood, up at the north shore hiking or cross-country skiing, or maybe just enjoying hanging out in the back yard with the family.

Marcus Felling is a Microsoft Program Manager for Azure native Infrastructure-as-Code, and is also PM for VS Code ARM Tools and for parts of Visual Studio Azure Tools. As a PM, Marcus will be able to give us some insight about Bicep's product roadmap.
