Pauline Baynes is well-remembered as the chief illustrator of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia Chronicles, and of a number of works by J.R.R. Tolkien, such as Farmer Giles of Ham, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, and others. But she also illustrated many, many children’s and other books in the UK, and received the Greenaway Medal for her illustrations to A Dictionary of Chivalry.
