Fate of the Norns (Norse Fantasy) (One-shot)

Details

The sun and moon have been devoured and the world tree shudders as the realms are cloaked in the long night of Fimbulwinter. Brother kills brother and families are sundered as a great war cry echos throughout every corner of the word. Heroes are needed to challenge the dark tide while the gods make ready for their final battle. Both mortal and immortal alike known the signs of their impending doom, the only question now is whether Destiny can be changed.

Fate of the Norns is different from many traditional tabletop games that I've played in that it is dice-less, instead of rolling you play from your characters Runes, representing your character's experience and destiny. Runes are drawn during every combat round and are played like a card game, using different abilities or chaining several together to strengthen one. Be careful though for those same runes represent your characters life essence, and in the heat of battle you may loose the one rune you were counting on. Death is not truly the end though, since every character you're able to get into the Heavens earns you greater options for your next character, perhaps even someday bringing them back as one of the Einherjar. Be bold, Die gloriously, Earn you place in the Halls of the slain.

It can take a little while to get a hand of the system but I hope it won't discourage anyone from playing. The whole game is designed for very visceral action and character concepts that would would fit the cover of a metal album.

In this particular One-shot your characters will sail for Dyflin. As the shores of Ireland are assailed by their ancient enemies, King Olaf calls for warriors. The Fimorians once again rampage the coasts, The Folk rally from the Otherworld no longer content to their fate, and even worse nightmares haunt the heartland. Can you follow in the footsteps of the Milesians and drive The Folk back to their sidhe's or is the Isle of Destiny a portent of things to come as those ancient powers drive man away.

I have everything available for the game, in fact I only have enough supplies for 5 players, I'll be buying more in future if there's enough interest in the system. I"ll have premade characters available, though if anyone wants to try character creation let me know and I can show up an hour early.

After the game I'll be going to a little brewery in Lino Lakes called Hammerheart, it's not part of the meetup but any players who want to come along are more than welcome.
