Fate of the Norns (Norse Fantasy)

Fate of the Norns (Norse Fantasy)

Details

The sun and moon have been devoured and the world tree shudders as the realms are cloaked in the long night of Fimbulwinter. Brother kills brother and families are sundered as a great war cry echos throughout every corner of the word. Heroes are needed to challenge the dark tide while the gods make ready for their final battle. Both mortal and immortal alike know the signs of their impending doom, the only question now is whether Destiny can be changed.

I'll be running a few sessions of Fate of the Norn's over the next few months playing through my Irish campaign. Playing as Norse mercenaries in the service of King Olaf of Dyflin your characters will come face to face with the horrors of Ireland. Can you follow in the footsteps of the Milesians and drive The Folk back to their sidhe's or is the Isle of Destiny a grim portent of things to come.

Fate of the Norns is different from many traditional tabletop games that I've played in that it is dice-less, instead of rolling you play from your characters Runes, representing your character's experience and destiny. Runes are drawn during every combat round and are played like a card game, using different abilities or chaining several together to strengthen one. Be careful though for those same runes represent your characters life essence, and in the heat of battle you may loose the one rune you were counting on. Death is not truly the end though, since every character you're able to get into the Heavens earns you greater options for your next character, perhaps even someday bringing them back as one of the Einherjar. Be bold, Die gloriously, Earn you place in the Halls of the slain.

I have plenty of premade characters available but if anyone wants to create their own character let me know, I always show up a little earlier and have added a little more time to this session for character creation and learning the system.

It can take a little while to get a hand of the system so to help out I've provided a link to the publishers own video tutorial that focuses on the playmat which I've found to be the most complicated part for new players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FZ8dTEWwtc
