This is basically the classical Problem of Silence or Divine Hiddenness. The main question is: If a god exists that wants us to know he exists, then why are some people unaware of this god’s existence? One way to solve the problem is to conclude that this god doesn’t care whether or not we know he exists. That would presumably exclude the Christian and Muslim gods, but it could apply to other gods. Of course, for atheists, the problem is solved by recognizing the non-existence of any gods.
This is the format for the meeting:
Round 1, First Thought: If you wish, briefly introduce yourself & your background or worldview, and take ~2 minutes to give us your first views on the topic.
Round 2, Open Dialogue: Raise your hand (or a virtual hand if you prefer to not share video), to be recognized by the moderator to speak or to ask a question.
Round 3, Last Thought: If you like, tell us your one word, sentence, or paragraph "Take-Home Point" that you learned about the topic, or that you want us to know.
Replying to this posting does not get you signed up for this event. You need to sign up at the Secular Bible Study Meetup page.
