Minnesota Climbing Clinics

• This is for you if you want to do some top rope climbing. We’ll share tips and techniques and help each other set up top rope anchors. If you have taken a top rope anchoring class and still don't feel comfortable building anchors, sign up. Or, if it’s been awhile since you set up top rope anchors, sign up.
• Bring whatever gear you have, but at least shoes, harness and belay tool. I have all the gear necessary to set up the climbs.
• Please don’t sign up if you don’t know how to belay a top rope climber.
• If you have questions, please email me thru Meetup.
• If you RSVP & can’t attend, please let me know. There is usually a waitlist.
• PS If the weather forecast looks bad or we don't get at least 4 people, we'll cancel and let you know by Friday evening. And, please, no one under 18.

This is near Two Harbors. A fairly newly developed sport climbing area.
These are all sport climbing routes. If you don’t know how to lead climb on sport routes, this is probably not for you. It is possible for others to lead the routes and then set up a top rope - especially for the harder routes. If you know how to lead climb on sport routes, but don’t have all the equipment, I will bring ropes and quick draws for people to use.

I plan to go up Friday and stay the night either at Gooseberry Falls Park or in Two Harbors. If you can come up Friday afternoon, we can climb then as well as on Saturday.

• I have a 36 foot sailboat that is currently near Cape Canaveral Florida. I plan to sail to different parts of Florida and possibly all the way to the Bahamas.
• I need to have the boat out of the water in May to prepare for hurricane season.
• So I’m talking about middle November to near the end of April.
• You do not have to commit to that entire time. But I think with travel time and logistics. It’s best to figure at least 5-7 days. That allows some leeway for bad weather.
• You don’t need sailing experience, if you can use a steering wheel and know the difference between right and left, I can teach you the rest in about an hour
• It’s easy to fly to Orlando and/or west coast of Florida and it’s a 2 hour drive from where the boat will be to major airports. I might be can pick you up from the airport.
• The boat will easily fit 3 to 4 people. So you can have a friend come with you if you’d like.
• I am not talking about dangerous offshore passages; trips down the intracoastal canal system, sailing a little bit in the Atlantic or the Gulf, if the weather is good, and anchoring out in different bays. Maybe even seeing a rocket launch at night from a boat.
• A little background on my experience. This is the fourth sailboat I have owned. One of them, I sailed from Lake Superior down to Florida and to the Bahamas. Another one, I sailed all the way from Bayfield, WI to Chicago and then cruised on the Florida Gulf coast.
• This has nothing to do with climbing, except, you can practice all your knots and, you can climb to the top of the mast if you wish. (Great views from the top, which is about 50 feet in the air.)
