Top Rope Anchoring Class - Taylors Falls Sat May 31, 10:30-3pm

Details

Weather forecast looks good. Sunny & 70.
If you want to learn the basics of setting up top rope anchors outdoors, this is for you. (If you already know this stuff but want a refresher, this is for you too.)

There won't be any climbing in this class, only learning and practicing how to set up top rope anchors. If you want to stay after and climb, be sure to bring all the gear and ropes you'll need.

Bring your harness and any sort of rock gear you have - stoppers, cams, webbing, cord, hexes, etc. - but I have everything you need to learn and practice these skills.

You'll learn how to use stoppers/nuts/hexes/cams to place in cracks to protect the top rope climber. You'll learn how to connect webbing and/or cord to the rock gear you placed to make a SERENE or EARNEST (http://blog.alpineinstitute.com/2012/12/serene-and-ernest-anchors.html) anchor system.

It'd be nice if you already knew these knots:

• Figure 8

• Overhand

• Clove hitch

If you don't know these already, you'll learn them.

If you have questions, text/call me at 612.978.8588. Or email me thru Meetup.

The $30 charge is a donation to Access Fund.

By signing up for this event, you agree to assume personal responsibility for all risks associated with this event, and release the organizers, event hosts, and other members of the venue, from any liability.

PS If the weather forecast looks bad - pouring rain - or we don't get at least 5 people, we'll cancel and let you know by Friday evening. If we cancel, we'll refund the donation. And, please, no one under 18.

PPS If you haven't gotten an email about the class location before the meeting, please contact me. (Sometimes the emails I send out thru Meetup get lost.)
