Sailing Update Days 6&7, Thursday and Friday 11/20-21
Ron of Red Wing (the well-known climber and bon vivant) flew home to Minnesota on Tuesday morning. He will be missed. Especially his uncanny ability to drill through the hull at the perfect place to put a drinking fountain.
Don Hamilton, a cousin, flew in Wednesday from Minnesota. Don & I left HarborTown Marina on Merritt Island on Thursday morning about 9:30 after shuttling cars about 12 miles south to Rockledge, FL. (Apparently one of the few places in Florida that has solid, non-limestone rock) We managed to get the 10am lift bridge that connects the marina to the Intracoastal Waterway. And saw several dolphins playing close to the boat.
We anchored near a popular restaurant and had a very quiet night with no wind at anchor.
Friday, we shuttled cars about 40 miles south to Vero Beach. We are anchored out again along the ICW on Friday and will reach Vero on Saturday. We travelled about 20 miles today and had our first swim in the Indian River. We are near an interesting island called Grant Farm Island. https://archive.tcpalm.com/news/indian-river-county/Grant-Farm-Islands-tranquility-draws-simplicity-seekers-375076601.html/
Air temps about 83, night temps about 60 and water temp about 78.
