April Topic – Party on with 3rd Party Binding Libraries in .NET MAUI
As the weather turns to spring, we greet with open arms the season of migration. .NET MAUI migration, that is. But as we peer into the bright future of cross platform mobile application development, what of the bits of yesteryear that will remain in the past?
Many aging 3rd party libraries, bindings, and frameworks we’ve relied on over the Xamarin.Forms years will remain in the “dark ages”; dusty, out of support, with maintainers off fighting other dragons, and remaining incompatible with .NET MAUI.
In this talk we’ll discover how to take these antiquated dependencies that rely on Xamarin.Forms or prior versions of .NET and spiff them up to work with .NET MAUI in .NET 6, 7, and beyond. We’ll learn some tips and tricks to help make the process more smooth, and look at how to test the updated libraries and track down possible issues.
Presented by Tom Soderling
Tom Soderling is a .NET developer who discovered Xamarin and jumped headfirst at the chance to write apps for his iPhone using C#.
He’s the creator of the famous app "How Deep Is It?", and currently a Lead Mobile App Engineer at Polaris Industries, where he works to improve the on & off-road riding experience through innovative software in the Polaris app.
