This week we're going to do something a little different; we're going to read two 2-page passages very carefully to analyze it word-by-word. First, the first two pages of section 6 of chapter 3, "The Barbarian Despotic Machine" (pp. 192–94), and then, if we have time, the first two pages of section 5, "Territorial Representation" (pp. 184–85).

If you haven't been keeping up with the reading, now would be a good time to join. If you want to familiarize yourself a little bit with some of the terms they use repeatedly (body without organs, desire machine, filiation vs alliance, territorialization (inscription, recording, coding), it might be helpful to search for some of these terms on google with Deleuze and Guattari. (However, the interesting thing about both the sections we're going to read closely is that they each introduce new concepts they haven't mentioned before. Section 5 talks about debt, and section 6 talks about despots and the despotic machine.)

A pdf is also available online, at http://libcom.org/files/Anti-Oedipus.pdf

Don't be creepy and shy about joining, and don't worry if we're in the middle of a book, you will be welcome (and we frequently don't end up talking about the book at all)! And BYOB!

Please RSVP so we can have some idea of who plans on coming. This will be fun!

I have limited the size of this event to 2000 people, so RSVP soon!
