Details
Please join us for this exploration of Stoicism and Laughter. We will discuss specific teachings and writings on the benefits and pitfalls of laughter from the Stoic philosophers Epictetus and Seneca. Next, a comparison of the philosophers Democritus and Heraclitus provides a case study for different approaches to laughter. We will end with the life and perhaps death of Stoic philosopher Chrysippus, who invented a “killer joke” nearly 2,200 years before Monty Python.
All are welcome to join in, no prior reading is required. We'll be on Zoom, and the link is posted just before the meeting starts.
