Rally for Secular Government for the Day of Reason

Details

There are many reasons we need to be vigilant about protecting the separation of church and state. Christian Nationalism is a real threat that we must stand up to and let our representatives know it can’t be tolerated!

Join us in this Rally for Secular Government for the National Day of Reason. Feel free to bring homemade signs (no sticks attached) related to the cause. We have the State Capitol Rotunda reserved on Wednesday, April 30th for a program to start at 1:15 PM. We will be joined by organizations that also believe in secular government, such as HumanistsMN, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, OutFront Minnesota, and the newly formed Minnesotans Against Christian Nationalism Coalition.

We also expect some state representatives to stop by and say a few words including members of the Minnesota Secular Government Caucus which we are particularly proud to have here in Minnesota.

In addition to coming to this protest, reach out to your representatives!
Find out who your representatives are here: https://www.gis.lcc.mn.gov/iMaps/districts/

Ask your state legislators to:

  • Oppose Minnesota bill, SF 2280 which would mandate posting the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom.
  • Support Minnesota bill, SF 271 which requires that secular recovery options be made available to those who are mandated to undergo substance abuse treatment.
  • Support the “End of Life Options Act”, this bill would offer people with terminal illnesses who meet certain qualifications to have the option to peacefully pass on their own terms.
  • Join the Minnesota Secular Government Caucus

Ask your federal legislators to:

  • Oppose the “Free Speech Fairness Act” which would allow tax-exempt churches to endorse political candidates. It approves electioneering if done through “regular and customary activities in carrying out its exempt purpose.” Such endorsements would qualify as too insignificant to go after under the bill.
  • Oppose the “Educational Choice for Children Act” which would expand school vouchers, creating a massive federal tax shelter while funneling taxpayer dollars into religious indoctrination.
  • Support “The Do No Harm Act”, a crucial bill to prevent religious freedom from being weaponized to justify discrimination and deny essential rights.
  • Join the Freethought Caucus!

Let’s fill the Rotunda and make it loud and clear that we support a Secular Government!

When: Wednesday, April 30, 1:00-2:15 PM
