With this pick from the Top 100, we step into the swirling, smoky world of Blonde on Blonde. Bob Dylan said he'd been chasing "that thin, wild mercury sound", and with this album, he finally caught it.
Released in 1966 as one of rock's first double albums (!), this record finds Dylan at a creative peak. It's an album full of contradictions: playful and heartbroken, sprawling and intimate, funny one moment and aching the next.
Fun Fact: The album cover is blurry because the photographer was shooting outside in the winter and they were both shivering. Apparently there were plenty of sharp images too, but Dylan picked this one.
