The Subversive Simone Weil - part 2
Details
We will finish our discussion of the book, The Subversive Simone Weil: A Life in Five Ideas, by Robert Zaretsky. While this is a philosophy group and, as such, we will spend our time talking about Weil's philosophy, her life is just as interesting. She appears to have had an extraordinary level of empathy and believed in living her philosophy – even to the point of it leading to her death at 34. And despite converting to Catholicism later in her life, she was never nominated for sainthood. Probably not enough miracles. We won't be performing any miracles (at least it's not very likely), and most of us are too old to die at 34, but we do expect another good discussion.
