RIVER FUN RUN - a paddle from Quitman to DeSoto on the Chickasawhay

The River Fun Run hosted by the Clark County Chamber of Commerce is a new to me paddle. Several of us from this Meetup have paddled a lower section of the "Chick" before.

It will be a point-to-point paddle from Quitman to DeSoto (in Clark Co, MS) on the scenic Chickasawhay River.

General information:

• drop off your canoe, kayak, etc. at the Quitman Boat Ramp starting at 7 am (security will be provided).
• drive to the take out at the DeSoto Boat Ramp (across the street from Miles by the River RV Park)
• shuttle service to be provided back to the paddle start in Quitman
• the organizers do not consider this a "race." Prizes will be awarded by raffle tickets drawn at a post paddle ceremony
• lunch provided at the post paddle ceremony
• approximately 11 miles by river
• guaranteed to be HOT....be ready to take a swim break and cool off along the way at a sandy beach on the "Chick"
• remember to bring a dry bag for your car keys and cell phone.
• paddle flyer and the 2 page registration form provided below.

Looks like a fun paddle for anyone with a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. I will caution that hard to see underwater limb/tree snags are common in parts of the Chick so I would not recommend using an inexpensive inflatable.

This should be a great opportunity to meet some fellow paddlers while seeing a different river area of our state. Hope to see you there!
