By Jonáš Kratochvíl (Parrot): Parrot is a technology startup whose primary mission is to change the way court reporting industry operates. All witness statements and depositions and court hearings are currently being manually transcribed on stenographs. Parrot steps in with artificial intelligence for generating automatic transcription in place of traditional court reporters. Our platform simplifies the whole workflow including remote depositions via video conferencing, support and case management.

In this talk, we will dive into the key components of the state-of-the-art automatic speech recognition system and how to run it in production in a distributed system leveraging a container orchestration tool Argo Workflows. To produce a high quality text transcription from audio, it takes multiple transformer models for non-trivial tasks of speaker separation, speech to text, and natural language processing.
We will provide practical examples of both the successful as well as failed attempts that we’ve encountered while trying to bridge the quality gap between automatic and human level transcripts.
