Divided by AI: Public Attitudes and Adoption Patterns in the Czech Republic

Details

How do Czechs actually view and use generative AI? The 2024 Czech module of the World Internet Project provides the nationally representative survey that goes beyond basic statistics to capture people’s attitudes, fears, and everyday practices.
The talk will show where AI is already making a difference in daily life, why many tried it but gave up, and which groups remain most resistant—and why. Selected results will also be contrasted with findings from international partner countries.
Drawing on the theories of the digital divide and the diffusion of innovations, the talk will address questions such as:
What is the logic of AI diffusion: who is adopting AI, and who is being left behind?
What stops non-users from joining in?
What makes the difference between seeing AI as a threat or as a benefit?
