Fall Walk: From Cabbagetown to Cherry Street 🌿🍖
Rosedale Station, 7 Crescent Road, Toronto, ON, CAFall Walk: From Cabbagetown to Cherry Street 🌿🍖
We’ll begin our journey at Rosedale Station and walk through Rosedale Valley Road which has an amazing canopy trees. We will end up at Cabbagetown, where rows of beautifully preserved Victorian houses and tree-lined streets tell the story of Toronto’s early immigrant communities — including the Irish families who gave the neighborhood its quirky name by planting cabbages in their yards. From there, we’ll make our way into Regent Park, once Canada’s largest social housing project and now a vibrant community undergoing transformation, blending new arts and culture spaces with its rich history.
Our path continues into the historic Distillery District, where cobblestone lanes and towering red-brick buildings once housed the world’s largest distillery. Today it’s one of Toronto’s cultural gems, filled with galleries, shops, and heritage charm. Just beyond, we’ll pause at Biidaasige Park, a newer green space whose name means “the sun is shining” in Anishinaabemowin, honoring Indigenous presence and resilience in the heart of the city.
Finally, we’ll finish our adventure with a well-earned feast at Cherry Street Bar-B-Que, one of Toronto’s best-loved smokehouses. With brisket, ribs, and pulled pork slow-smoked to perfection, it’s the ideal spot to relax together and celebrate a day well spent exploring the city. It has been listed in the Michelin Guide as the best places in Toronto for BBQ**.**

🐟Walk: Salmon Run at Humber River & James Gardens 🍂
Old Mills Subway Station, 2672 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON, CA🐟 Salmon Run at Humber River & James Gardens 🍂
Celebrate the magic of fall with a walk along the Humber River during salmon run season! Watch in amazement as salmon leap upstream, returning home to the waters where they were born. We’ll spend about 30 minutes by the river enjoying this incredible sight, then continue our walk along the water.
✨ Fun Fact: Some salmon travel over 3,000 km from the Atlantic Ocean to spawn in freshwater rivers like the Humber. They leap up waterfalls and rapids with incredible strength — all to return to the exact spot where they were born.
Our mid-walk break will be at James Gardens — a beautiful hidden gem in Toronto that most people don’t even know exists. Perfect for photos, relaxing, and soaking up the season.
