Join Sherri Koehler & Sheri Schneider and explore a few of the many techniques for transferring images to use in your artwork. Keep watching this space, more transfer techniques may be added!

Featured techniques:

  1. Gel Medium “Skin” + Magazine or toner-based images (Sherri K)
  2. Citra-Solv + toner-based images (Sherri K)
  3. Packing Tape + Magazine images (Sherri K)
  4. Hand sanitizer + Inkjet images on Transfer Film (Sheri S)

Recommended Supplies:

  • Laser, toner-based and magazine images to transfer
  • Packing tape (the cheap stuff works very well for this method)
  • Paper to transfer images onto
  • Scissors and/or X-acto-type knife
  • Removable Tape (blue tape, washi tape, or artists tape)
  • Burnishing tool (e.g., "bone" folder or large metal spoon)
  • Fine grain sandpaper (small piece is fine)
  • Spray bottle with water
  • Paper towels
  • Cotton Balls or sponge-tipped brush
  • Small cup for Citra-Solv
  • Gloves (Citra-Solv is non-toxic and low fume, but if you have sensitive skin you might want gloves)
  • Soft or Regular Gel Medium in Gloss or Semi-Gloss and Matte
  • Shallow, wide container to hold water for "rinsing" paper off gel skin and packing tape
  • Paintbrush or other tool for applying gel medium
  • Optional for the hand sanitizer method - clean soft brayer (I use a 4 inch speedball) and a unused cheap paint roller cover (what you put the paint on). You'll be fine without these items, but if you have them on hand, consider bringing them.

Sherri K will provide a sheet of toner-based images for you to use.
Sheri S will provide several images that have been printed on transfer film with an ink jet printer for each person.

IPRC have scissors, bone folders, and magazines available to use as well!
