Interactive Data Analysis with Apache Spark and Apache Zeppelin

Abstract:

According to the 2016 Stackoverflow.com Developer Survey, Spark is the top paying tech job in the US and the second highest trending tech topic. Apache Zeppelin is a web-based notebook that is integrated to work with Spark, making interactive data analysis easier. Join us to find out what all the fuss is about! Pitt will give a background presentation on Apache Spark focusing on the Spark Core. He will demonstrate the Apache Zeppelin product in the context of a live demonstration of an analysis on a local Milwaukee dataset, focusing on aspects of the SparkSQL and MLlib libraries.

Bio:

Pitt Fagan is the VP of Data Engineering at Earthling Interactive, a Madison-based software development company. As a backend developer for the past fifteen years he has encountered a wide array of data challenges and technologies. Pitt has been the organizer of the Big Data meetup in Madison for the past several years.
