We have an exciting Meetup planned for this month. Northwestern Mutual will continue to host the event but at their new office building downtown. You can use the same entrance and parking options to walk through the new grand atrium.

If this news isn’t exciting enough we have our local AWS team lead by Brian Lewis and Mike Post to provide access for our members to AWS QuikLabs for a half-day hands-on workshop. AWS will assist us in proctoring the labs through free tokens they will provide to attendees.

Please see the information below on the recommended labs that will be available. These labs come at various skill levels so even those new to AWS will have a great experience.

Sumo Logic will be sponsoring the event and provide drinks and pizza for those who attend.

Agenda:

5:30pm - Introduction, Welcome

5:45pm - Sumo Logic Technical Presentation and Demo

6:30pm - AWS Workshop Introduction from Brian Lewis

6:45pm - AWS Hands-On Lab Workshop

9:00pm - Closing and Giveaways

Registration: Please arrive early to sign-in, we must have your registration prior to the start of the Meetup. This registration is separate from the Meetup site. (Yes, we still need you to RSVP).

Lab Requirements: You will not need an AWS account for the labs but you will need to bring your own laptop for access. No other software other than a web browser is required.

Several labs will be available but we’ve selected the following as our recommended labs for this Meetup. You will have the option to choose others not in this list.

Introduction Track:

• Introduction to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) with Microsoft Windows

Intermediate Track:

• Introduction to AWS Lambda

• Windows Server Website Hosting on AWS

• Getting Started Hosting WordPress Using Amazon S3

• Introduction to Amazon Elastic File System (EFS)

Advanced Track:

• Challenge Lab

• Introduction to Amazon API Gateway

• Programming AWS Lambda for Windows

Parking: Our options for parking have not changed. Free guest parking is available in surface lots, 611 E. Wisconsin Ave and on Cass St behind 808 E. Mason. St.

We plan to follow a similar format for our upcoming Meetup in Madison. Dates are TBD. If you haven’t already, please register to help us build our group as strong as in Milwaukee. https://www.meetup.com/madisonaws/
