Hike Patapsco SP - Forest Glen, Santee, and Nun's Trail (hilly 3.6 miles)

Details

Could it be? A spring day with moderate temperatures and no chance of rain? Hopefully I didn't just jinx it!

We'll start this hike at the Hilton area of Patapsco and make a spiraling clockwise loop on the Forest Glen, Pig's Run and Santee Branch Trail, then swing a right onto Nun's Trail, which takes us downhill to the river. We'll continue on the flat, paved Grist Mill Trail for a half mile and then climb up Nun's Run to take us back to the parking lot. There is at least one relatively easy stream crossing that you can probably keep your feet dry on. Total distance should be about 3.6 miles and roughly 500 feet of elevation change.

Follow our route on Alltrails here.

Please arrive at the parking lot ready to go no later than 10:00, as we will do a quick round of introductions and then immediately hit the trail. We do not wait for latecomers.

Patapsco Valley Park's Hilton Area has a fee to enter. Give yourself a few extra minutes in case there is a line, and bring $3 cash to make it through quicker ($5 for out-of-state plates).

Also, please recognize that "Moderate" is the midpoint between Easy and Hard, not a synonym of either. We typically keep at least a 2 mph pace for terrain this hilly, though occasionally pause to regroup.
