Hike Clopper Lake Loop and Old Pond Trail at Seneca Creek SP - Moderate 6mi

With the current forecast for Saturday a bit cooler, some of you hikers have requested a trip that is a bit longer than our recent trips and preferably with few thorns. These well-travelled paths at Seneca Creek State Park should deliver both.
We will meet at the western parking lot, next to the giant birdhouses, volleyball court, and bathrooms. It is 0.6 miles from the entrance to the park. After quick introductions, we will head down towards the dam, swing a right, and do a loop along the Seneca Greenway Trail. The only notable elevation gain is the start and end of this segment, at a bit over 100'. Once we complete the loop, we will backtrack towards the dam and take the loop around the lake shoreline.
There is not a ton of overall elevation gain on this trail but I will note there are also no flat areas for the entire trip. It rolls up and down in very short spurts the whole way. The surface is packed and well travelled, though there are many exposed roots, especially along the lake. Please wear real hiking footwear.
