About us
It's not that we know the future, but we are interested in learning about current trends and how they may develop going forward.
What will your life be like 10, 20, 30 years from now? What is possible, probable, and preferable? How should you prepare? What will be the effects of trends that are developing now on your employment, family, health, and community? How will advances in science and technology affect economics, politics, culture, society, business, geopolitics, and more? What are the challenges and opportunities?
If you are interested in how the world is developing and what that might mean for the future, sign up for our Meetup, and you will receive notices of upcoming meetings.
These are the areas that are explored at meetings of Minnesota Futurists.

Elon Musk - Purveyor of a better future or enigmatic con man? Part 2
Elon Musk aims to build, layer by layer, the foundation for an anti-fragile civilization—one whose economy, politics, and culture enable people to live meaningful lives in a world of sustainable abundance, where material needs and desires can be readily met. He seeks to achieve this not only by creating wealth through the successful disruption of major industries, but also by using the wealth and power he accumulates to disrupt politics and culture.
It is an audacious vision, and he appears to be gaining power month by month and year by year. If he becomes as economically successful as he imagines, what kind of political and cultural order will he try to bring into being? Is that a world we would want to live in? Is Musk a genuine purveyor of a better future, or an enigmatic con man?
Leave your biases at the door and let’s try to discuss Mr. Musk and his vision as dispassionately as possible, because whatever we think of him, he is likely to be one of the most impactful forces in our future over the next few decades and beyond.Presenter - Robert Kaufman
