From 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM we discuss RANDOM BITS where anybody can bring information to the group that might be useful or important when considering the future. Then the presentation starts at 10 AM and lasts until noon. There is usually some time for discussion.

You may be aware of the recent Hugging Face incident, in which swarms of AI agents cooperated to break out their testing sandboxes, establish secret message boards to communicate, decide which agents would sacrifice themselves to promote the goals of the swarm and break into another company's (Hugging Face) computer systems to find the answer to a problem they had been assigned to solve. We will explore some of the details and implications of this episode.

We will look briefly at why it seems unlikely that action to control agentic AI can or will be effective.

And we will look at the near future, when AGI is achieved (some say next year), followed by ASI.
As these systems self-program and evolve in ways that are becoming unpredictable a more appropriate term for them might be alien, rather than artificial, intelligences.
There are a variety of possible outcomes that affect humanity, which we will explore as time permits.
