Enjoy one of the few remaining stands of the "Big Woods," a maple, oak and basswood forest that once covered part of southern Minnesota. The marshes, potholes, and lakes provide excellent habitat for wildlife.

Join us for a moderately paced hike for 4+ miles at Lake Maria State Park. Bring a snack that you can carry with you - we will try to find a pleasant spot to stop and eat. Also bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen, appropriate hiking footwear for possibly muddy trail conditions and dress for the weather.

Important Notes:

  • A state park annual sticker ($35) or single day permit ($7) is required for each vehicle.
  • This park is approximately an hour’s drive from the Twin Cities. Please plan accordingly.
