Facebook Hackathon

Facebook Hackathon

Details

This Hackathon is organised and run by Facebook.

To celebrate the opening of Facebook's new London office, Facebook are hosting a a free one-day Platform hackathon - join them to help build the next generation of mobile, social apps on Friday 21st September 2012 from 9am.

The event is suitable for coders, both those who have developed with Facebook before, and (especially) those who are new to our APIs. The day will begin with technical sessions designed to give you the key information you need to start building great social, mobile apps with Facebook's Platform. You can attend these sessions or just start coding right away - The entire Facebook London engineering team will be on hand to answer questions and offer guidance as you hack.

At the end of the hackathon, you or your team will get a chance to present the hack you've built, and some top judges from London's tech scene will award prizes in a number of categories for most awesome hacks.

Twilio (http://www.twilio.com/) and Pusher (http://pusher.com/) will have their engineers on site to give you access to their APIs and help if you want to use their platforms in your hack. They'll also be awarding a prize each for the best hack which combines Facebook and their APIs.

Agenda:

9am - Registration
10am - Welcome & Platform Overview
10.30am - Integrating your app with Open Graph
11.00am - Facebook Platform for iOS and Android apps
11.30am - Building Games with Facebook

6.30pm - Dinner

Places are limited, so pre-register now and we'll let you know soon if you're able to attend. This hackathon is focussed on helping people build new apps with Facebook Open Graph apis, and our mobile platforms, so prizes will only be awarded to apps created at the hackathon itself.

Once you have registered, you should also join the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/242704652517435/ where you can post ideas for what you want to hack on, and join together with other developers if you want to hack as a team.

Facebook hope to be able to welcome you to the new Facebook London office on Friday 21st September 2012.
