Emotional design: Creating digital products with meaning and heart

Details
Have you noticed the digital landscape becoming increasingly homogeneous in recent years? Does it sometimes feel as if the function is there but the feels are profoundly absent?
Well it doesn’t have to be this way.
In this talk, Matt will take us on a wild and wide-ranging journey - from rhinos to road maintenance - in his quest for digital beauty, meaningful brands, and products with personality.
More specifically, he’ll show us how the practice of Emotional and Embodied Design enables us to create digital solutions that capture the essence and energy of an organisation, and connect with users on a visceral level.
By leveraging these two forms of design, Matt will demonstrate that it’s possible to deliver experiences that are not just effective but actually transformative and produce products that resonate with hearts as well as minds.
Topics covered will be:
- How to apply the concepts of ‘Emotional Design’ to your work
- Why visceral isn’t simply veneer.
- What ‘Embodied’ Design is and how it can make your products better
- Why function actually follows feeling and how to harness your users’ emotional states.
This talk is primarily focussed on design, and is intended first and foremost for designers but everyone is welcome.
