For episode #16, we're super excited to announce that Toronto's own Public Leaf will be in the building!

If you've visited City Hall recently, you may have noticed the billboards advertising Public Leaf's mobile app, TDOT311. This app allows citizens of Toronto to report potholes, graffiti and other debris directly from their iPhone or Android phones. Within two weeks of its release, TDOT311 was featured on Global TV, CP24, Toronto Sun, GridTO, 680News, City News, Toronto Star, BlogTO, CityTV and News1010.

In this presentation, the Public Leaf team will discuss:

  • How they became interested in using the mobile revolution to enhance the role of public services

  • Their impression of Toronto's Open Data initiative, and what kinds of opportunities are available to developers

  • The challenges and opportunities in working with municipal government agencies

  • How TDOT311 got featured on a variety of Toronto local media outlets, and tips for how you can promote your app locally

  • Future plans to build more services for municipal, provincial and international government organizations
