### Join Us at Our Monthly Meeting!

Learn, share seeds and seedlings, meet other native plant enthusiasts, and enjoy light refreshments at our monthly meetings, which are free and open to everyone.
• When: 6:30-8:00 pm, on the 2nd Thursday of each month
• Where: Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane, Clearwater, 33759 (map below)
At our meetings, members gather to hear entertaining and informative speakers on landscaping with native plants, Florida's natural communities, and conservation topics, following an introductory welcome and discussion of upcoming events and compelling local environmental issues. Before the meeting starts, mix and mingle with other "nature nerds" and enjoy light refreshments. The chapter has a lending library of books available for checkout and offers a selection of complimentary “how-to” flyers and brochures.

Super Bowl XLIII Urban and Community Tree Planting Initiative
In 2009, as one of the events surrounding the Super Bowl in Tampa, nearly 2000 trees were planted. Will Moriaty will tell the tale.
Will Moriaty will give us the history of regional tree planting efforts that were spearheaded by the National Football League's Environmental Program and the Tampa Bay Reforestation and Environmental Effort, Inc. (T.R.E.E., Inc.) This project was part of Super Bowl XLIII, held on February 9, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
Over 600 volunteers planted 1,955 trees of 31 varieties (all but 3 of the 1,955 were native) throughout the Tampa Bay Watershed. Sixty-two community organizations and local, state and federal governmental agencies participated in this massive effort.
Have volunteer plants? Bring some native plants from your yard that you want to share in a plant swap.
There will also be a Plant of the Month giveaway!
Everyone is always welcome. You do not have to be an FNPS member to attend!
