Upper Rio en Medio

Join us for an easy/moderate hike along the Upper Rio en Medio river.
Length: 3.3 miles ... Elevation gain: 800 ft ... Route type: In and Out ... Pace: Relaxed ... Friendly Dogs are welcome. We will take forest road 102 to the Rio en Medio trail head near Aspen Ranch. The Rio en Medio is partially diverted to Pacheco Canyon via a large ditch. We will follow said ditch to the diversion dam on the Rio en Medio, from there we will go up the trail until we run out of time or until we reach the intersection with the Winsor trail. We will return to our cars by the same route. The drive back will be down Pacheco Canyon road to Tesuque. At a relaxed pace, this pleasant, shady, hike will take three to four hours to compleat.
Wear good hiking boots. Bring poles, hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and lunch or snacks. Dogs on leash are welcome.
