A rugged route along a beautiful creek, a game trail leading to the Tesuque Creek Trail, and a woodsy path leading us home

This is a chance to see another section of the lush Tesuque Creek that receives little attention. We will leave a car at the Borrego trailhead and begin our hike at the Big Tesuque Campground. We will skip the Tesuque Creek Trail going downstream and take a rugged route down that follows the cascading creek through tall stands of wildflowers and grasses. We will pass waterfalls with deep pools bounded by mossy stones. This section of Tesuque Creek is wild and rugged, extremely beautiful, and very jungle like. The narrow path takes you over and under logs and there are some rocky sections with one short easy scramble. After almost a half of mile we will leave the stream on a game trail that leads uphill to the Tesuque Creek Trail, which will take us to the Borrego parking lot. We will shuttle the drivers back to the Big T campground.
Poles are recommended.
Dogs are okay.
