This is an online meetup for political moderates focused on U.S. politics but open to people from around the world. Is there something going on in Canada that's relevant? We're all ears.
What is a moderate?
As the organizer, I am drawing a line on the right to exclude Trump supporters. His actions are so extreme that I don't feel that anyone who supports him can legitimately claim to be a moderate.
On the left, I am drawing a line to include old-fashioned liberals but not '"progressives" aligned with the Congressional Progressive Caucus and "The Squad." Without disparaging progressives, they are not moderates and we need our own place to have discussions.
Who are the moderates? One politician who qualifies as a moderate is Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia, now a candidate for governor.
