A Beautiful Mind

For October, we'll be reading The Beautiful Mind, a biography of the Nobel prize winning mathematician John Nash. Though his theories are still taught today, what makes his story so interesting is his eccentric mind which ultimately betrayed itself and delved him into a decades long struggle with schizophrenia.

The author is brutally honest in their depiction, portraying Nash not only as a genius and a character, but also as the arrogant and highly-flawed human being he was.

The film adaptation, starring Russel Crowe, won four academy awards. However, many agree that it left out the more critical aspects, presenting an interesting but perhaps less genuine portrayal of Nash. So if youve the movie, this book should add much more intrigue to John Nashs life.
