Come celebrate my Special Day with a big paddle down the Great Egg Harbor River! This trip is Penny Pot to Lake Lenape Boat Ramp, a 17 mile trip. OCSJ have recently run Penny Pot to the Weymouth Forge, and we know that is clear. We believe that the Forge to the Lake is mostly clear as well. Cutting and clearing has happened all season and portages depend on the water conditions. Typically, we get down with no problem.
The Penny Pot Park is a small parcel of land located at Spur 561 and Eighth Ave. (right off of Route 322) in Folsom. There is a bridge out further down the road (resulting in the road being closed) but the Park is open for local traffic. Drive past the cones to get to the park.
Starting point is Penny Pot Park, ending at the beautiful Lake Lenape. This is a good trip for intermediate paddlers, not recommended for new folks due to debris, hazards and water height. Guests are welcome! This is a minimum of 8 hours trip (17 miles) so expect to spend the entire day. The river is winding and water conditions vary at this time of year. There is usually beautiful flora and fauna along the way and historic sites to be seen. We will be stopping along the way for lunch and swim.
-pfd (life jacket) -- this is mandatory!
-change of clothes
-hand sanitizer or wipes
-face mask (for when not on the water)
-personal pen for signing in
-a flexible approach to the new normal!
This is a joint trip with Outdoor Club of South Jersey and Mohawk Canoe Club.
There are specific rules for attending, including updated rules for shuttling. Please be sure to read these here: https://mohawkcanoeclub.org/forms/TripRules.pdf
Your attendance on the trip indicates you have reviewed and agreed to these rules.
OCSJ Guidelines include:
1. Paid members are given priority. Guests can come for their first trip, but may be bumped to the waiting list. You will receive an email if that is the case.
2. Everyone must wear a mask WHEN NOT ON THE WATER and appropriately social distance. Please bring a mask, hand sanitizer or wipes and a personal pen to sign in with.
3. Shuttle will be organized among participants, but it is important to note that is not part of the club activity. Getting into a vehicle with other people is a personal choice, and masks are strongly encouraged!
4. If you have RSVP’d to attend and cannot, please be courteous and cancel so others can attend. Do this at least 24 hours before activity start time.
