4th Platoon will be hosting a Training Day on 17 January, 2026 in Visalia, CA

Training Days are when we go over the topics and work through the training blocks in a classroom session.

Using a CPR dummy in a classroom setting you'll learn to do CPR as a team sport, with proper communications, record keeping and team management.

Topics covered include,

  • Orientation to the Ranger Basic Course
  • Team Roles
  • First Aid Topic: CPR
  • Radio Topic: Intro to Hand Held Radios
  • Shoot, Move, Communicate: Basic SMC
  • Incident Within an Incident: What to do when a team member gets hurt for real
  • Team Procedures

The Mojave Ranger Basic Course trains NCR troopers to run Ranger support missions as reinforcements and tactical specialists.

A 9-member Mojave Ranger Response Team is a team leader and assistant, a medic, a radio operator and up to 5 riflemen who specialize in search & recovery and tactical support.

The Mojave Ranger Field Manual explains the 6 team positions in a Mojave Ranger Response Team and lays out the basic concepts and management of the LARP operations at Ft. Edwards, and provides team roles, history and how to manage the game.

Response Team may be in an operational area for multiple days and deploys a Patrol Base Team to manage a rearward support area with additional medics and staff.

5 Basic Scenarios

  • Scenario 1: Forth and Back – Use a GPS to establish a supply cache in the Mojave. Scenario 1 introduces teams to basic mission procedures on a short hike to establish a supply cache.
  • Scenario 2: The Patrol Base – A Response Team works out of a Patrol Base, which is a small rearward base with additional medics and resources where Response Teams can extract injured patients to.
  • Scenario 3: Establish Communications – Establish a radio relay station at a remote Patrol Base and run security patrols.
  • Scenario 4: Radio Triangulation – working from a remote Patrol Base, use ham radio equipment to locate and recover a lost shipment in the desert using radio signal triangulation
  • Scenario 5: Capture the Flag – Valuable equipment needs to be recovered after a Raider attack. Working from a remote Patrol Base, find the Raiders, recover the gear and then come home.

The Mojave Ranger School focuses on teamwork, outdoor skills and basic first aid, radio and other technical skills to help LARP’ers simulate Ranger support missions.

** Baker, not Bravo: Baker Company was named based on the WWII phonetic alphabet (Able, Baker, Charlie, Dog, Easy, etc.) so that we don’t get confused with real-world Ranger operations.
