OUR ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES:
Our monthly Meetup calendar is one of the most important and utilized tools for our chapter. We are always looking for volunteers to host events. Events can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Some of our most common and attended play dates are having members play in your back yard, meeting at a local park, meeting at Linvilla, meeting for a play date and coffee at someone's house, going to the zoo, meeting at an indoor play center (like jumpers, Oasis, skyzone, pump it up, or kehlers) meeting at a restaurant for lunch or coffee, etc. Members are not required to host any play dates, but it is our wonderful member hosts that make our calendar full and fantastic.
Mom’s Night Out/Culture Club:
Mom’s Night Out events afford members an opportunity to enjoy some free time with other Mothers. Members can choose to “host” a MNO and serve as the contact person or the current coordinator can serve as the RSVP contact person. Past Moms Night Out and Culture events have included drinks at Tavolas, dinner out, night at the movies, concerts, apps/drinks at a member’s house, painting classes, dance lessons, hiking, Bunco Night, yoga, White Elephant Swap, and more. Our most popular culture club night is a moms night out at someone's house featuring a different ethnic cuisine. Everyone brings a main, side, or dessert to share based on that chosen theme.
Broaden your reading horizon by joining Book club! Monthly selections are chosen by your fellow moms. All genres are welcome, as the purpose of our group is to expose ourselves to books that we might not have personally selected. Readers and non-readers alike are invited to participate. The books are discussed in a casual, open setting, and are always enjoyed with tasty fantastic fare and compelling company. You do not have to have read the selection to join us.
Our chapter is required to perform one service project benefiting children each year. We have the option to perform additional service projects throughout the year benefiting other charities if we choose. Past service projects have benefited, Alex's Lemonade Stand, Cradles to Crayons in Philadelphia, Mother’s Home in Darby, Domestic Abuse Center of Delaware County, Delaware County WIC Secret Santa program, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, etc.
A coordinator for our chapter organizes meals for our moms in need due to new baby, surgery, or other unusual home situation. The coordinator is always looking for volunteers to cook (or purchase) one of the five meals provided to the family.
Our Parties are loads of fun for our Moms and children. They usually include organized games, activities and food. We usually have a Halloween, MNO Holiday White Elephant Exchange, Valentine's Day, Easter Egg Hunt, End of Year Party, Family Pot Luck, and an Ice Cream Social. We often schedule these weekdays around 4:30, after naptime and after school so elementary school kids can attend too.
Our Private Facebook Group:
Members can take advantage of our private facebook group to to ask questions, post topics, share Moms Club photos, and to help members get to know each other better. It is also used for things like recommendations, giving and borrowing things, sharing local events, searching our archived info and newsletters, and helping to arrange last minute play dates or seeing if there is interest in future meetups.
