When the valleys are hidden in the fog, the sun usually shines on the hamlet of Eggberge high above Altdorf. The imposing mountain peaks of the Schächental valley are perfect for a memorable snowshoe day.

This trip is led by Tatjana Probst, mountain leader.

Event description
Meet Tatjana at 10:00 at Flüelen (Talstation Eggberge) to take the cable car together. After the first ascent through a small ski resort, we leave the hustle behind and continue our hike towards the Schächental valley peaks. However, we leave these high rocky giants to our left, as our path leads through quiet forests and over smaller but scenic peaks. Along the way, a couple of authentic huts invite us to take a break. Several cable cars lead from the sun terrace back down to the valley floor. This means that the hike can be shortened or extended as desired.

WT2 - 4h walking - 450m ascent - 300m descent

Requirements
To join this event, you need to be a fit hiker. No previous snowshoeing experience needed.

Access
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you the following:

• Zurich HB 08:35 - 09:52 Flüelen (Talstation Eggberge) (via Zug and Flüelen)
• Brügg (Bürglen UR) (Seilbahn) 15:29 - 16:55 Zurich HB (via Altdorf UR) - depending on the time the event finishes

If you are traveling by car, you can park at Flüelen (Talstation Eggberge) and take the bus back from Bürglen at 15:29.

Day clothing essentials:

Equipment rental
You have the possibility to rent the following equipment, directly from the guide:

• Snowshoes and poles: CHF 15

You will receive an email with a form to fill in a few days before the event, where you can inform us about which items you’d like to rent. These can be paid by cash or Twint on the event day.

Pricing
The price for this event is CHF 80.

Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
