"Engadin. What mountains, what lakes, what light."

There’s a reason this corner of the Alps inspires so many hikers. One unforgettable weekend with dramatic landscapes, turquoise lakes, wild valleys, and glacier scenery deep in the Engadin.

Expect two challenging days on the trail, a night at 2574m beside the Forno Glacier, breathtaking panoramic views, wildlife, and mountain passes. If you love wild alpine adventures and long days in spectacular terrain, this trip is for you.

This trip is led by Celine Kahn, international mountain leader with additional T4 certification.

Event description

Day 1: Maloja - Fornohütte

We meet at Maloja, Posta at 10:30, at the arrival of the bus. From there we start our hike to Fornohütte. The first part is on a beautiful trail through the forest, until we reach the stunning Lake da Cavloc where we can have our picnic. From there, we have two alternatives to hike to Fornohütte. If the conditions permit, we take the panorama trail which takes us to Val Muretto and then up to 2750m, scrambling on rocks with amazing views of the Forno glacier, before slightly going down to Fornohütte. The hut offers the best views of the glacier. Dinner and night at the hut, after a stretching session and a well earned apero!

Technical information: 13.5km - 1200m ascent - 500m descent

Day 2: Fornohütte - Capanna da l'Albigna - Pranzaira

After an early breakfast, we start our long and strenuous but stunning hike to Albigna via Pass da Casnil Sud at 2940m. We start with a descent along the glacier. The climb that follows, to the pass, is long and requires the use of the hands, it has some ladders and chains. Once we reach the mountain pass and enjoy the views for a moment, we start our descent to Capanna da l'Albigna which is located by Lake da l'Albigna, a beautiful reservoir with turquoise waters. We can have our picnic near the hut and enjoy a nice coffee there, before taking the cable car down to Pranzaira to return home.

Technical information: 11.5km - 1050m ascent - 1000m descent
