For our meeting Wednesday, May 13, we will watch a 10-minute video about Media Monopoly (five companies that control most of the media), followed by open discussion.

Also, we will discuss some anti-monopoly legislation in Pennsylvania.

We are interested in legislation, candidates, and activists who support the new anti-monopoly movement.
.

Monopoly power is the biggest cause of economic problems, related to poverty, inequality, unaffordable housing, unaffordable medical care, shortages of job choices, etc.
.
In the last ten years, there has been the rise of a new anti-monopoly movement to address the problem, instead of only trying to treat the symptoms.

A constitutional democracy can only be sustained if the economy is not dominated by monopolies and cartels, which then distort the political system.
.

We're currently meeting mostly online, but some of us might meet in person sometimes in the York-Harrisburg-Lancaster area, and others might meet in person in other parts of the state. We're networking with others who address this issue, including seeking legislation and candidates for office.
.
The link will be sent that day to everyone who RSVPd, and we will check for late RSVPs around 6:00 pm. If you don't see the link in your inbox by by 6:00 pm that day, contact the organizer directly: https://www.meetup.com/society-and-social-progress-pa/members/?op=leaders
