About us
Looking for a refreshing way to start your day? Join us once a week for a morning walk in Monsanto park to enjoy some fresh air and scenic views right in the middle of the city. Our goal is to come together for a peaceful and calming walk that will set a positive tone for the rest of our day, maybe even clear our minds and reduce some stress!
This club encourages community and making new connections, but also welcomes quiet, introspective walks together. Each walk will be kept small to support a comfortable, familiar atmosphere.
Each route will be circular and take approximately 1 hour.
These walks are inclusive: All fitness levels, ages, genders, and nationalities are welcome, including (well-behaved) furry friends. Our pace will be set by the slowest walker.
Out of respect to the group and nature, please be prepared to stow your phone and keep it on silent for the duration of the walk.
All of the Monsanto Morning Walks are, and will always be, free! If you would like to contribute to the costs of running the group on Meetup, feel free to donate whatever feels right for you on any walk you join.
See you in the park!

Weekend walk #14: Pedra Amarela and 20 bridges
Barragem Rio da Mula, Estacionamento Barragem Rio da Mula,, Cascais, PTMonsanto Morning Walks goes back to Sintra!
Join us once again in Sintra for the first weekend walk of the year. We will start at the Rio Mula dam to climb up to the "Yellowstone" of Sintra - the famous Pedra Amarela viewpoint - after following the Rio Mula itself, where we will cross over a total of 20 wooden bridges.
This is a moderate route with an extended (but doable) incline to get to the final viewpoint. We will then return to the starting point and relax together over a picnic lunch.
Please note that the group size for this walk is intentionally small to support a comfortable, familiar atmosphere. If you have secured a place but are unable to attend, please be considerate and update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance.
If you are running late, please send me a personal message and we will try our best to wait for you. Otherwise, we will begin walking at 10:15 to respect everyone's time.
Distance and duration
This circular route is approximately 8km and should take roughly 2 hours to complete, including breaks.
Getting there
We will meet directly in front of the the Rio Mula dam at the top of the steps.
🚗: Small parking lot in front of the dam
🚌: Take the train to either Sintra or Cascais and group together to grab an Uber/Bolt (approx. €7). Aim to arrive at either station by 09:30.
Join our WhatsApp group to organize carpooling and make sure everyone gets there.
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes (hiking shoes recommended)
- At least 0.5L of water
- Weather-appropriate clothing
