Details
Just a quick note, to account for people joining virtually the presentation will start at 6pm sharp, those attending in person should arrive 10-15 minutes early. There will also be a short hands on demo so if you want to bring a mobile device feel free to do so.
Paul Doherty from the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS Foundation will be providing an introduction to applying GIS to search and rescue operations. This Meetup will also be broadcast live online for those unable to attend in person.
Mr. Doherty's passion is to ensure that the entire Public Safety community has access to the GIS training and resources needed for their missions, especially search and rescue (SAR) operations. He has a B.S. from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, an M.S. from Hofstra University, and a PhD from the University of California, Merced. As a SAR Volunteer, he has been promoting the use of GIS in SAR across the world since 2008. He is also an adjunct instructor for the JHU Geographic Information Systems program, teaching GIS for Emergency Management. Much of his time is dedicated to improving the use of geospatial information in Search and Rescue.
