After the success of the first two meetings of the book club to discuss The Odyssey, we’re meeting up again to analyze and converse about a new text!

Several ideas for what to read next were thrown out at the last meeting, and we seemed to agree on “Antigone”, so I’ve included a few different versions of the text, translated by different translators. They’re all translations of Sophocles’ original text. (Read whichever one you prefer, or feel free to read your own translation, as long it’s a translation of the original text.) I’ve also included a link to an explanation of the play when it was performed at London’s National Theatre in 2012.

This is not a Montclair Socrates Cafe discussion group meetup. You are welcome to attend those as well, but the book club is a separate meetup.

Please try to read the entire text before the meeting! This one’s a short one, so it should be pretty easy to finish it in time. 😊
