Join the Carmel Valley Rotary Club for a special evening celebrating the remarkable achievements of the Carmel High School Mock Trial Team! This year marks the 20th anniversary of a program that has become a cornerstone of student leadership and academic excellence in our community.

Founded in the 2005-2006 school year by coach Bill Schrier and student Brenna Johnston, the Carmel HS Mock Trial Team is entirely student-initiated and student-led. Under the guidance of dedicated educators and Rotary supporters, the team has grown into a powerhouse, boasting 13 Monterey County championships, including an impressive 10 consecutive titles. In 2017, the team proudly brought the California State Mock Trial Championship back to Monterey County and went on to win the World Championship in New York City.

This year, we are excited to spotlight Julia Jackson, the team’s president and a senior who balances her role as an attorney on both the prosecution and defense teams with her commitments as captain of the varsity soccer team and active participant in student government. Julia embodies the spirit of leadership and dedication that drives our team’s success.

The evening will feature inspiring stories from team members and alumni, stories from the team’s participation in the 2024 World Championships in Chicago, and a look back at the program’s two-decade legacy.

Learn how the Mock Trial program fosters essential skills such as leadership, resilience, collaboration, and persuasive argumentation, while building strong connections within our community through the generous support of donors and the Rotary Club.
