Monterey Vegan Foods Cooking Class and First Meetup

Details
This group's purpose is to gather together like-minded folks interested in learning to make our own vegan foods at home, if for health reasons or philosophical ones. We can share our successes and failures as well as enjoy the process together. For this first meet-up, I'll be showing you how to make a vegan cream cheese, a delicious mayonnaise, and creamy oat milk. All super easy, fool-proof and quick to make. These kinds of vegan foods commercially-made are becoming very expensive and full of additives. We can make them fresh, at home, with ingredients of our choosing. I plan to have a delicious garbanzo soup made in advance to sample as the mayo recipe uses aquafaba, the juice from the garbanzo beans. And, probably a few quick breads to sample.
I developed an allergy to eggs, dairy, and wheat/gluten in 2014. My diet consisted of fruit, veg. nuts/seeds, and some grains, along with commercial gluten/dairy-free products. I just got tired of the expense and some just don't taste great. So, I began to experiment with what I could make from scratch. It's been challenging, but so fun and basically has become my new hobby! I'd love to share the journey with you. Please share what successes or failures you've experienced and/or any good recipes. ALSO note~ I do have a cat, in case you're allergic. Also, please refrain from fragranced products. And, last, bring some comfy socks! This is a no-shoe home. When you sign up I'll send my address in Old Monterey. Thank you.
